Infrastructure Consultant Southampton – Job Description
During Vissensa’s recent expansion a new role for a Southampton has become available due to our continuous growth into local and global markets which has created an opportunity to join a dynamic team of engineers.
The role is looking for a Consultant with a passion for technology, self-development and experiencing different platforms. Day to Day activities include supporting existing customer platforms infrastructure, scoping and building new customer requirements (Pre-Sales), giving expertise to existing team members whilst mentoring less experienced members of the team, dealing with ServiceDesk tickets when needed and building out product service strategies with both the Marketing/Sales teams.
Location: Southampton, United Kingdom (We follow a hybrid work approach, but some office presence is required)
Essential Role Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration in an enterprise network production environment
- Skills in Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, networking and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments
- Experience of administering and configuring MS/Azure Active Directory, Windows Server and associated applications
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule
- Strong skills with Wireless networks (WiFi)
- Strong skills with network protocols, standards and policies
- Skills with several of these vendors: Aruba, Fortinet, Juniper, Cisco and Palo Alto
- Process oriented with strong execution and follow-through skills
- Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize self
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Infrastructure experience and confident, hands on Data Centre exposure
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
- A car and full driving licence to enable travel between Sites and Data Centres
Desirable Role Requirements:
- Experience in MPLS/ VPLS, DNS (BIND & Microsoft DNS), voice/video integration – SIP, IP-PBX, SBC.
- Skills in Telephone voice systems such as Microsoft Teams and SIP systems
- A strong understanding of networking protocols ((e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
- Experience in virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare
- Experience in Public Cloud networking such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Service (AWS)
