2nd Line IT Support Engineer Southampton – Job Description

During Vissensa’s recent expansion a new role for a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer in Southampton has become available due to our continuous growth into local and global markets which has created an opportunity to join a dynamic team of engineers.

The position on offer is a role within the Vissensa Technical team which will have overage of PublicPrivate Cloud and Managed Services for clients located both in the UK and Worldwide. A candidate will see a wide range of Technologies and Cloud services that include Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Teams), Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, Backup, SQL SaaS and Dynamics), Linux, VMwareHyper-V, Veeam with many more.

Location: Southampton, United Kingdom (We follow a hybrid work approach, but some office presence is required)

Candidate Requirements:

Candidates will need good interpersonal skills which allows for good team working, can lead other team members when required and asked. Can demonstrate good troubleshooting and clear thinking under pressure if needed.   The experience of the candidate should include troubleshooting, vendor management and client response liaison.

Experience in the following areas would be desirable:

  • Knowledge and understanding of ticketing systems
  • Knowledge of working with Remote Management Tools
  • Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • A basic understanding of Firewall and Switches
  • Experience of working as part of a Technical Support team

The successful candidate will also be expected to:

  • Work with the current technical team to enhance existing service offerings
  • Manage the monitoring and analysis tools and report any requirements
  • Ensure problems and requests of assistance are kept within agreed SLA’s
  • Advise the sales team on design, equipment and licensing queries
  • Deliver solutions into new and existing clients in both PublicPrivate Cloud environments
  • Assist in the ongoing support and development of customer environments

Desirable Role Requirements:

  • Experience in MPLS/ VPLS, DNS (BIND & Microsoft DNS), voice/video integration – SIP, IP-PBX, SBC.
  • Skills in Telephone voice systems such as Microsoft Teams and SIP systems
  • A strong understanding of networking protocols ((e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Experience in virtualization technologies such as Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare
  • Experience in Public Cloud networking such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Service (AWS)
