Business Continuity

With the increasing dependence on IT systems most organisations have documented policies for Business Continuity and have performed some kind of calculation to estimate the potential loss to the organisation of each hour or day of downtime. With these calculations running in to the thousands and millions, businesses are continually looking to minimise their exposure to downtime and the threats that may cause this downtime.

For most businesses, the most likely causes of downtime would  be physical system failure of some kind, either temporary (component failure) or permanent (fire or theft) or alternatively serious damage or a lack of access (security threat / extreme weather) to the organisation’s premises.

Vissensa provides a structured roadmap of business continuity options that will protect against these and even more serious threats via a range of solutions from Backup through to High Availabilty and remote hosting via a Data Centre for full disaster recovery.

Backup Solutions (On premise & Hosted)

Vissensa has a range of backup solutions ranging from on premise tape libraries to data centre hosted disk or SAN based backups. Backups are not only essential to restore systems to physical servers in the event of fire or theft but they can also allow a high degree of granularity so that for example, an individual users mailbox can be restored to recover a deleted email rather than having to restore the entire system.

High Availability

In addition to backups, it is also beneficial to protect the organisation from individual server failure by adopting a high availability strategy. This uses virtualisation technology to spread the processing load across two or more servers to improve the resilience and availability of key applications.
High Availability configurations can be provided either on premises or via Vissensa’s extensive Data Centre network and can be tailored to provide the right combination of protection and cost.

Disaster Recovery

In order to provide a robust Disaster Recovery facility, it is necessary to replicate key systems and data to an alternative site should an organisation’s own offices be destroyed or damaged to the extent that the IT systems are not operational.
Vissensa offers Clients the option to replicate their key systems and data to their Data Centre Network throughout London and the Thames Valley. A range of options is available and we can offer a full recovery of your key systems form within 48 hours to within 1 hour depending on the type of infrastructure and bandwidth in place.
